"Based upon "Christian Healing Ministries' School of Healing Prayer.” These teachings begin with the Scriptural Foundations for Healing and the History of Healing in the Church, and how the Gifts of the Holy Spirit are related to healing prayer. A sample of other topics include: Healing Our Image of God, Praying for Physical Healing, Introduction to Inner Healing and The Healing Power of Forgiveness.
Historically, it is simply not true that healing ceased with the apostles. These teachings are remarkable, and approved by the Diocese. You do not need to feel called to a healing ministry to attend. Some people may feel led in that way, but it is not necessary. Whether you are just interested in information, or you are looking for an experience that can change your life as well as others, the Lord provides generously. This will be an ecumenical gathering, so all of our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ are invited and encouraged to attend.
Deacon Jack and Sharon Crocker will facilitate "“Praying With Others.” All teachings and practicums are included. Credit is given the same as on campus at CHM with letter from facilitators.)
Pr-registration is required. Contact: Maureen Wright call (803) 730-1593 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org. A donation of $60.00 per person is appreciated. This includes the cost of the "School of Healing Prayer Manual.” If couples choose to share a manual it is $90.00 per couple.

Fatima Jubilee Plenary Indulgence
Pope Francis has granted a plenary indulgence opportunity for the 100th anniversary of the Our Lady of Fatima apparitions throughout the centennial year, from the 27th of November 2016 till the 26th of November 2017. There are three ways to obtain the indulgence, detailed in a statement from the Fatima Shrine in Portugal.
Three Ways to Obtain an Indulgence
1. Make a pilgrimage to the shrine. The faithful can make a pilgrimage to the Fatima Shrine in Portugal and participate in a celebration of prayer dedicated to the Virgin. In addition, the faithful must pray the Our Father, recite the Creed and invoke the Mother of God.
2. Pray before any statue of Our Lady of Fatima. The faithful, with devotion, can visit a statue of Our Lady of Fatima solemnly exposed for public veneration in any church, oratory or proper place place of prayer during the days of the anniversary of the apparitions, the 13th of each month from May to October 2017, and there devoutly participate in some celebration or prayer in honour of the Virgin Mary. In addition, the faithful must pray the Our Father, recite the Creed and invoke Our Lady of Fatima.
3. The elderly and infirm. The faithful who, because of age, illness or other serious causes, are unable to get around, may pray in front of a statue of Our Lady of Fatima and must spiritually unite themselves to the jubilee celebrations on the days of the apparitions, the 13th of each month, between May and October 2017. They must also "offer to merciful God with confidence, through Mary, their prayers and sufferings or the sacrifices they make in their own lives.” To obtain the plenary indulgence, the faithful must also fulfill the ordinary conditions:
1. go to Confession and Communion
2. be interiorly detached from sin
3. pray for the intentions of the Holy Father
OUR BEAUTIFUL STATUTE OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA WILL BE DISPLAYED IN THE CHURCH ON THE 13TH OF JULY, AUGUST, SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER

Order of Carmelites Discalced Secular (OCDS)
Formation Classes will begin in January 2018
If you are interested in inquiring about the Order of Carmelites Discalced Secular
you are invited to visit the community from January to December of 2017.
This allows an acquaintance to be made before formation begins. The secular ("third" order is a community of lay persons who live according to the spirit of the Order of Discalced Carmelites, but who do not leave their secular state of life [that is, they continue to live fully their family life, and work in the world.] It is a requirement of the Order to visit the community for a minimum of three to six months prior to beginning formation. Visitors are always welcome and visiting the community does not obligate you in anyway. We normally meet at St Joseph Catholic Church, 3512 Devine St. Columbia, SC, the 3rd Sunday of every month from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm. (Some scheduling changes may be necessary so please call to confirm the date of the meeting you plan to visit.) If you are Roman Catholic, over 18, participating fully in the sacramental life of the church, and think you may have a vocation with the Secular Discalced Carmelites, please contact us. If you have any questions or would like to request a brochure to be mailed or emailed to you with more information, please call
