Following the resumption of public Masses on May 11 and recent communication from the Diocese of Charleston, we are pleased to inform the Corpus Christi community that the First Holy Communion program can start the preparations for the students to receive the Holy Eucharist throughout the month of June.
GUIDELINES All safety guidelines and norms currently in place at Corpus Christi will be observed and followed at all times during the liturgical celebration of the Holy Mass. Please visit the Parish website for detail explanation on the restrictions: https://www.corpuschristisc.org/guidelines
STUDENTS Adhering to the required restrictions, we can accommodate a total of four (4) First Communion children on each weekday and weekend Mass taking place during the month of June.
GUESTS For the safety of all parishioners and the health of our community, each child can invite a total of nine (9) guests.
SCHEDULE OF MASSES Parents can schedule the child’s First Holy Communion on any weekday or weekend Mass throughout the month of June. Below please find the schedule of Masses:
Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. Thursday at 8:30 a.m. Friday at 8:30 a.m. Vigil Saturday at 5:00 p.m. Sunday at 8:00 a.m. Sunday at 11:00 a.m. Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
SCHEDULING To schedule your child’s Mass for First Holy Communion, please tab the bottom "SCHEDULE FORM" on the very top of this page, and complete the First Holy Communion Mass Schedule Form. The Schedule Form will be available to all parents starting this coming Tuesday, May 26. The scheduling of the Masses will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
TICKETS Each child will receive nine (9) tickets for their First Communion Mass. Your family’s nine (9) tickets will be available for pick-up at the church office Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. or on Fridays from 9 a.m. until 12 noon. Please call to coordinate the pick-up of the tickets - i.e. park in front of the Parish office, call the Parish office, wait inside the vehicle, and a staff member will deliver the tickets to you. Be sure that each guest brings their ticket to the Mass awarded to your child as this will guarantee their seat.
ARRIVE EARLY We are asking all of you to arrive 30 to 45 minutes early.
ATTIRE For the boys: white shirt, dark suit with a solid tie or white suit with a solid tie, and dress shoes. For the girls: a traditional and acceptable white dress with a veil or a simple hair decoration. Veils and gloves are optional. Not appropriate attire for girls: No long dresses to the floor or trains - the girls must be able to sit, stand and kneel without interference from their clothing; no spaghetti straps; no backless shoes or heels, flip flops, or tennis shoes. IMPORTANT: Corpus Christi has several girls First Holy Communion dresses available for your children to use at no cost. GUESTS For your safety and the health of our community, each catechumen and candidate can invite a total of four (4) guests, including the sponsor.
CLASSES AND REHEARSAL No additional sacramental preparation classes or rehearsal will not be offered.
VIDEO PRESENTATION The Parish office will provide an instructional video presentation for the parents and children to review together the liturgical celebration, the guidelines, and instruction on how to receive the Holy Communion. This video will be sent via email and will be available through the Parish website later this week.
