The Very Reverend Canon Gary Linsky, VF, was appointed as the administrator pro-tem of Corpus Christi by the Most Reverend Jacques Fabre-Jeune, CS, to supervise the spiritual welfare of the parish effective July 1. Father Gary Linsky, who is currently the Rector of The Basilica of Saint Peter, Dean of the Midlands Deanery, and Vicar for Priests and Secretary for the Clergy, will have the same rights and obligations of leadership as any pastor would to make sure the general sacramental and spiritual life of Corpus Christi continues on until a permanent pastor is appointed.
Reverend Filip Wodecki, supply priest of the Diocese of Charleston, was assigned by the Bishop to Corpus Christi to ensure that Holy Masses and other sacraments and rituals are celebrated at the parish as scheduled.
During this interim period, the functioning of Corpus Christi will be kept in a holding-pattern. No radical alterations will be made. The purpose of this is to ensure that when the new pastor arrives, he will find things running practically as they were under Father Joseph’s term.
1 The relations between the various employees of the parish will remain essentially the same, except that everyone is ultimately responsible to the administrator pro-tem instead of the pastor.
2 The present parish organization structure will not change – the working relationships and lines of organization between the pastor, staff, consultative bodies, and the parish community as a whole will continue as they have been.
3 The parish operation will be left on “auto-pilot” as the parish organizational structure is currently built to carry out its mission, general responsibilities, and specialized ministries in an efficient and productive manner.
4 Please know that Bishop Jacques Fabre-Jeune cares deeply for Corpus Christi, and is taking all the above very seriously. Though ideally he would have preferred to have Father Joseph’s successor assigned to the parish by this time to leave no period of vacancy, the Bishop will certainly need more time to identify the replacements of Father Joseph and Father Gustavo.
Prayer In this time of transition, let us keep going wholeheartedly together. Let us encourage each other. Let us pray for each other. Let us turn to our Blessed Mother for her undeniable protection.
