Quinceañeras

Let Us Help You Plan Your Quinceañera

Thank you for considering Corpus Christi Church for your daughter's 15th birthday (Quinceanera) celebration. We hope this information will help answer some questions you may have regarding Quinceañera Masses in this parish.

The Quinceañera or 15th birthday celebration is a rite of passage, a customary celebration of a young woman’s transition from childhood to adolescence with a ritual that expresses thanksgiving to God for the gift of life and that asks for a blessing from God for the years ahead. The Quinceañera makes a commitment to God and the Blessed Virgin to live out the rest of her life according to the teachings of Christ and the Church by renewing her Baptismal promises.
The Mass is not “a gift for the Quinceañera,” nor “in honor of the Quinceañera.” The Quinceañera, as part of the assembly, offers her youth, sorrows, joys and service to our Heavenly Father. The one who receives the gift is our Heavenly Father.

Parish Requirements

Planning ahead is suggested to ensure your desired date.

The Mass/Blessing in Thanksgiving for a Quinceañera must be reserved at least six (6) months in advance of your intended date.

Quinceañeras are scheduled on the 4th Saturdays outside Advent and Lent at 12:00 pm, with one or more young women present at the same ceremony.

The Quinceañera ceremony is a religious event, a celebration of action and gratitude for life where the fifteen-year-old girl gives thanks and demonstrates her  commitment to the Church, the Christian community and Jesus. Although the celebration of the Quinceañera is not a sacrament, the sacraments of Reconciliation Holy Eucharist are part of the ceremony.

Please read below to see the requirements for a Quinceañera .

Religious objects given for the Quinceañera can be blessed before the service begins and given to her. It is not appropriate to bless jewelry and other non-religious objects, including the crown worn by the Quinceañera.
