NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS

June 9, 2020

CONFESSIONS
During this week, Confessions will be offered at the end of all weekday Masses as well as on Saturday, June 13, at 8:30 a.m. For the schedule and Father Joseph’s instructional video, please visit the Parish website: https://www.corpuschristisc.org/confession-times

FEAST OF CORPUS CHRISTI
The annual Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ will be celebrated during the 11:00 AM Sunday Mass on June 14. This is a special opportunity for us to honor the sacred presence of Christ in the consecrated Host displayed in the monstrance. After Communion, Father Joseph will lead the exposition, procession and benediction, blessing all of us in the presence (physically or virtually) of the Most Blessed Sacrament prior to the dismissal of the Mass. The liturgical celebration will be broadcasted live through the Parish website: http://www.corpuschristisc.org/watch-mass-live

OUTDOOR PROCESSION
Sunday’s procession will follow outdoors for all parishioners who are uncomfortable in public spaces. Park your vehicle in the lower parking lot area, facing the church building, to watch the liturgical celebration through your phone or other electronic device. Following the Benediction, Father Joseph will process to the parking lot with the Most Blessed Sacrament to bless each and every one of you - one vehicle at a time. Bring your phones, follow along and participate in community: http://www.corpuschristisc.org/watch-mass-live

CORPUS CHRISTI NOVENA
Father Joseph is praying the Corpus Christi Novena until Saturday, June 13, to help us prepare for the Feast. The livestream of the Novena starts at 12:00 p.m. following the midday prayer service - broadcasted through the Corpus Christi website: https://www.corpuschristisc.org/prayer-services

RESUMPTION OF PARISH ACTIVITIES
As communicated by the Diocese of Charleston, effective June 15, parishes may resume activities in small groups as long as the Guidelines implemented for the resumption of public Masses and Confessions are followed. We will communicate further information pertaining to this manner soon.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
Adoration of Jesus Christ present in the Holy Eucharist will commence following the 12:15 Mass on Wednesday, June 10. The Eucharist will be displayed from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. - ending with the Benediction.

ADORATION PRO

OFFICE OF THE BISHOP
General absolution for those who are not able to attend weekend Masses has been extended to June 14. As of June 1, daily Mass communicants no longer receive general absolution. Bishop Guglielmone granted dispensation to those who (i) are high risk as per CDC guidelines, or (ii) are uncomfortable attending weekend Mass. The livestream of Masses will continue to be broadcasted daily through the Parish website. Thank you for worshiping from home and participating in the Holy Mass. We are truly grateful for your prayerful support.

SIMPLY CATHOLIC

Today, June 9, South Carolinians will enter polling stations for primary elections across the State. We will vote for those who may hold political office in our state and Washington, D.C., for the next two years or longer. As Catholics, we have the benefit of the Church’s Magisterium endowed upon her by Christ, which assists us in understanding the natural, moral law as it relates to specific issues. We have an obligation as Catholics also to be correctly informed and educated by the Church’s teaching so that we may vote with our consciences. Not liberal. Not conservative. Simply Catholic. Catholic citizenship & your vote. We have a dual heritage as both faithful Catholics and American citizens. As Catholics, our baptismal commitment to bear public witness to the values of Jesus Christ requires our active participation in the democratic life of our nation. As Americans, we have a serious moral obligation to vote. View our Simply Catholic voter guide. Click here to find your local polling station. Click here to view your sample ballot.

May the Lord continue to richly bless you and your families!
