FIRST COMMUNION AND CONFIRMATION
If your child is scheduled to receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion or Confirmation during the 2020-2021 academic year, please be sure to enroll your family in our FAMILIES WITH CHRIST online program. This is our Sacramental Preparation program for this year.
8th GRADE STUDENTS
If your child is currently in eighth grade, please ensure that your family is enrolled in our FAMILIES WITH CHRIST online religious education program. Since all Sacramental candidates are required to receive faith formation for two (2) years, upper middle school and first-year high school students need to register with their respective families in our Families With Christ online program to be considered as candidates to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
All 428 enrolled participants have full access to Week 1 of our FAMILIES WITH CHRIST program. It is important that everyone keeps on top of each week’s readings, video material, modules, liturgical celebrations, prayer service, Q&A session and assessment. As you get started, we will be happy to answer any questions that may arise.
FACE MASKS & CHILDREN UNDER 2 YEARS OLD
Children under 2 years old should not wear cloth face coverings because of suffocation risk. Hence, children under the age of two (2) can attend Mass WITHOUT wearing a face mask if they can stay six (6) feet away from other parishioners at all times, and do not have symptoms that can transmit the virus through the spray of spit or respiratory droplets. Children age 2 and older should wear cloth face coverings to attend Mass, as well as other liturgical celebrations and prayer services.
GRADUAL RESUMPTION OF PARISH ACTIVITIES
Effective next week, Corpus Christi will reopen the facilities in a gradual and safe manner for in-person Parish activities. To reopen safely, small events (i) will only take place in the Parish Hall and (ii) in small groups of 10 people or less, (iii) taking the appropriate precautions by following the Guidelines presently in place for the church building. To host an activity in the Parish Hall, the Event Form needs to be submitted for approval two (2) weeks prior to the date of the event.
FIRST CATECHISTS WEEKEND BLESSING
As parents and guardians, we are our children’s first catechists, and as such, all parents and guardians enrolled in the FAMILIES WITH CHRIST program will be called to the front of the sanctuary to receive a special blessing and commissioning during this weekend Masses. Parents and guardians, please plan to attend one of the weekend Masses to receive this beautiful and important blessing.
HOLY BIBLES & THE CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH
Each family (or household) participating in the FAMILIES WITH CHRIST program will receive a Holy Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church at no cost. The New American Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church books will be allocated in the vestibule area of the church building. Please make sure each family (or household) only takes one Holy Bible and one CCC book.
The public funeral Mass of Barbara Esbensen (Gwiazda) has been postponed until further notice. Immediately we confirm the new date of the Service, we will advise all parishioners.
SONIC & THE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
All high schoolers are invited to the Drive-Thru Kick-off party at Sonic in downtown Lexington - 312 Columbia Avenue - on Sunday, September 27, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The Youth Ministry will distribute goody bags and purchase “blasts” (ice cream) to all high school students who come to the drive-thru party. Please spread the word. Safety guidelines will be followed.
59 FAMILIES, 166 INDIVIDUALS AND $4,208
Corpus Christi wants to thank all of you who donated to the Corpus Christi Assistance Ministry during the month of August, as well as all the volunteers who donated their precious time to manage and assist the Ministry. Your donations, food and financial, have helped to fill our Parish pantry and allowed us to serve our neighbors in need. During the month of August, thanks to your generosity, we have been able to provide non-perishable supplies to 59 families and 166 individuals, as well as to assist families with their utility bills and rental expenses in the total amount of $4,208. We are truly grateful for all your help! For those in need of assistance, the Ministry will continue to open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
In light of the recent destruction caused by Hurricane Laura, Bishop Guglielmone has asked the Parish to take-up a special collection during this weekend Masses. (Please make checks payable to Corpus Christi Catholic Church, and on the memo line of the check write Hurricane Laura Victims.) Please keep in your daily prayers those affected by the Hurricane, as well as the first responders and volunteers who are working tirelessly to assist those in need.
