UPDATES AND EVENTS
August 14, 2020

1
SOLEMNITY OF THE ASSUMPTION

The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be celebrated tomorrow Saturday, August 15 - commencing with the Holy Mass at 8:30 a.m., followed by a Rosary service around 9:30 a.m. Join us to celebrate the end of Mary’s earthly life and the beginning of her heavenly life, in keeping with the Catholic dogma that Mary was assumed, body and soul, into heaven. If you cannot attend, click on the bottom below to watch the livestream of the Holy Mass and Rosary service.

3
HIGH RISK

The Parish will continue to distribute Communion for one full hour after the conclusion of the 11:00 a.m. Holy Mass on Sunday. Pass the word to relatives and friends that Corpus Christi is encouraging every Catholic person who is in trance and cannot attend Mass because of the pandemic (high risk / anxiety disorder) to watch the Holy Mass from home or any convenient location, and, afterwards, to come to the Parish from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. to receive Holy Communion outside the church building - next to the Columbarium and Prayer Garden. Communion will be distributed by an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, with the greatest reverence, following the safety guidelines. On another note, we will also distribute Communion right after the conclusion of the 5:00 p.m. Saturday Vigil Mass for those who watched the Mass outside the church building.

SESSION 5

Session Five of the First Reconciliation and First Communion sacramental preparation program is published and available through the Parish website. Click on the bottom below to visit the 8-week online summer program for our 4th to 8th CCD grade level students who have not celebrated their First Holy Communion. Parents, please remember that all students are required to submit the session’s assessment at the end of each week. The assessments are located at the very bottom of each session’s page.

SAFE GRANTS

Though the Orangeburg County circuit dismissed the State of South Carolina from the SAFE Grant lawsuit case, the judge has not issued a ruling on the rest of the lawsuit yet. Nevertheless, the lawsuit is not halting the application process for SAFE Grants. A total of 2,500 grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis, then distributed through a lottery after that to allocate the balance of available grant funds, as needed. If you are a parent who wants a Catholic school education for your child(ren), and would be interested in applying for SAFE Grants (up to $6,500 per student for use toward tuition), click on the bottom below to learn more about the Program.

NEW COLUMBARIUM UNITS

Two (2) Columbarium units will be installed in our Prayer Garden. The names that were chosen are Saint Therese “The Little Flower” and Saint John “The Apostle.” The two existing Columbarium units are close to being sold out. Available in the vestibule is a prepared packet that answers many questions Catholics have regarding cremation. For more information concerning the new two Columbarium units, please contact the Parish Office.
