UPDATES AND EVENTS
September 4, 2020
RELIGIOUS ED AND SACRAMENTAL PREP
All Religious Ed programs, as well as all Sacramental Preparation programs (i.e. First Holy Communion, Confirmation, RCIA) will be merged into ONE (1) single program: FAMILIES WITH CHRIST. None of the programs will return to Parish classrooms this calendar year 2020. FAMILIES WITH CHRIST will start their online education and preparation on Monday, September 14. The online sessions will not be live, but recorded, following The Apostolate’s Family Catechesis core curriculum.
FIRST CATECHISTS WEEKEND BLESSING
Since all Religious Ed and Sacramental Prep programs will be merged into one (1) program, FAMILIES WITH CHRIST, the participants (students) will not have an assigned catechist this 2020 calendar year. As parents, we are our children’s first catechists, and as such, all parents enrolled in the FAMILIES WITH CHRIST program will be called to the front of the sanctuary to receive a special blessing and commissioning during the weekend Masses on September 19th and September 20th. Parents and guardians, please plan to attend one of the weekend Masses to receive this beautiful and important blessing.
The Blood Connection invite you to sign up for the Blood Drive taking place at Corpus Christi this Sunday, September 6, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. All guidelines and norms will be implemented to protect the health of our community. Please Click Here to sign-up for your blood donation.

Every first Friday of the month, Corpus Christi will celebrate a Family Holy Hour in the church building from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Integrating daily life with faith, all family members, adults as well as children,
FIRST SATURDAY DEVOTION
The Devotion on Saturday, September 5, will commence with the Holy Mass at 8:30 a.m. - followed by Eucharistic Adoration and Sacramental Confessions.
Corpus Christi is pleased to announce that Bishop Robert Guglielmone will administer the Sacrament of Confirmation in our Parish on Tuesday, October 13. The Confirmation Mass will begin at 7:00 p.m. with students and their respective sponsor's reporting to the old church building at 5:30 p.m. that evening. Due to the COVID-19 precautions, each student can only bring one (1) sponsor and three (3) guests for this Celebration. The Parish will hold a Confirmation rehearsal in the church on Sunday, October 11th at 6:30 p.m. The student and his/her sponsor are required to attend the rehearsal.
BOOKS TO PRISONERS
Corpus Christi donated over 600 books to the Kirkland Correctional Institution at Broad River Road in Columbia. Books are crucial to the spiritual and educational development of all people. Since Kirkland does not allow family and friends to send books into the prison, our books will offer escape, entertainment and practical information, as well as faith formation to people in prison. We are sincerely grateful to all parishioners who donated books to support their educational and personal development.
The Knights of Columbus will be hosting their annual Spaghetti Dinner this year on Saturday, October 3, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Though the COVID-19 epidemic is making this year’s Dinner a Drive Through - Pick Up event, you will still be receiving the same outstanding spaghetti dinner that you are accustomed to experiencing. Be assured that the Knights will be following the CDC Health and Safety Guidelines. To preorder your meal online, please Click Here. There will also be Sign-Up sheets in the vestibule at your convenience.
Corpus Christi is hosting the 7th Annual Golf Outing to be held at The Country Club of Lexington on October 19, 2020. All proceeds will benefit the Corpus Christi Catholic Church Assistance Ministry.

HIGH RISK PARISHIONERS
Corpus Christi will continue to distribute Communion for one full hour after the conclusion of the 11:00 a.m. Holy Mass on Sunday. Pass the word to relatives and friends that Corpus Christi is encouraging every Catholic person who is in trance and cannot attend Mass because of the pandemic (high risk / anxiety disorder) to watch the Holy Mass from home or any convenient location, and, afterwards, to come to the Parish from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. to receive Holy Communion outside the church building - next to the Columbarium and Prayer Garden.
Communion will be distributed by an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, with the greatest reverence, following the safety guidelines. On another note, we will also distribute Communion right after the conclusion of the 5:00 p.m. Saturday Vigil Mass for those who watched the Mass outside the church building.
