FIRST COMMUNION
TEEN
Teenagers need to be taught to know, love, and serve Jesus Christ. The process requires from your child to complete an eight (8) week online program assembled by the Parish. Then, upon successful completion, your child will receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion during the month of September.
What are the Goals?
(i) To develop a relationship with Jesus Christ
(ii) To have a prayer life with God and one’s family
(iii) To learn the Sacrament, Sacred Scripture, and the teachings of the Catholic Faith
(iv) To be prepared to receive the Sacrament of Christian Initiation: Holy Eucharist (Communion)
What is the Role of the Parents in this Process?
Family involvement is very important. Children cannot solely learn to be patient, generous, humble, and prayerful from an eight-week online program — they need parents, grandparents, or guardians who live and pray the faith. Parents are responsible for leading their children in daily prayer at home and attending Mass weekly.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church states,
“The family is the community in which, from childhood, one can learn moral values, begin to honor God, and make good use of freedom.”
The Church community assists you as parents in your commitment to bring your child up in the Catholic Christian faith. While we will be virtually teaching your children at Corpus Christi, parents remain the primary teachers.
